i can no longer edit the contents of my creative nomad jukebox 3. my operating systems (desk and laptop xp and 7 respectively) are no longer compatible with the now obselete drivers... well i cant get them to work and i doubt if i can rebuild the mp3 again as I have just butchered it to get the drive out.

i thought that it would be straight forward to conect using my usb to hard drive connector and that when connected to a pc it would be found and a new drive letter would appear in the explorer list.

however, when i connected it up all was quite familiar ie windows found new hard ware etc etc but i dont see the drive listed and i would really like to get the music from it

got any clues as to what I need to do next....
please dont suggest a hammer.... i have a very large one standing by but the rare jimi h tracks would take me eons to find again

    take of ya selves

See if it comes up in the BIOS, depending on age some systems need to go through the drill of recognizing the drive in the BIOS first. I have seen where the system shows new hardware but does not show the drive.

Also try checking disk management for the drive. To access disk management, right-click on "My computer" and choose "manage". Click on "disk management" on the left and scroll through the list and see if the drive is in the list.

i have found the drive as suggested in manager, disk manager, i did something to bring it online but it says that it is unallocated. and I dont see a drive letter in explorer so still cant copy the files. any ideas what to do next ? thanks in anticipation

This means that the drive is either corrupted or it is not equipped with a file system that windows can recognise.

At this point I recommend you contact Creative to see if they put a specialist file system on their jukebox drives.
