Just got my gun back from the gun smith and when i got it home the First shot out of it blew out the chamber.

Its not the Guns smiths fault but the ammo was double loaded. Whats the chance to get a pack with one double loaded round and the first one being it? and because of it i am not able to work for afew days. I am damn lucky the barrel exploded like that because if it would have shattered the slide would of came off and hit me in the face but lucky i was only hurt by the shockwave my hearing should be back to normal in afew days.

The gun is a AMT 380cal-9MM Police back-up.

Yep, not withstanding the bad luck of the double loaded round, lucky you didn't lose and eye, or have a hole yer head. Glad you're okay, now. Another major job for the Gunsmith?

The gun smith said in his whole life he never seen one do that. Well he thinks its frame is bent and the company that made the ammo is paying for the ammo back and sending me new ammo and is paying for the gun to be fixed but AMT no longer sells the frame for that gun and just the slide and barrel cost about $200 and the gun new was $250 (AMT no longer sells this gun) but used it costs $150 so hes trying to get them to buy me a new gun there lucky i am not the suing type because crap like that gets people killed.

Oh side note can anyone guess what the gun smith has in his car garage?

Glad you are ok, N5638J. That is a rare event, and almost always is the cause of ammunition rather then the firearm itself in my experience . . .

I once saw S&W .38 special that did that. It had a titanium frame, and if I recall correctly self-loaded ammo was to blame. Blew out the cylinder, and the top of the pistol frame. The shooter also escaped injury.

    You ain't a kiddin' Lev! Why once . . . er, um . . . cough cough . . . I'm sorry - what did you mean? :innocent

Thanks everyone for the best wishes. My left ear is still ringing and the ear doc ran a hearing test today and for now i can't hear higher range sounds in it. He said that might go away and he gave me some meds for the ringing its called Lipo-flavonoid

I've never been one for guns, but to each their own as they say. I'm just relieved to read that you didn't suffer any serious injury. Take care

    Cheers

Probably a rare case of the 9mm being the better gun to have. Glad you're in one piece.

Maybe you can get a better replacement. Something in the .357 range. It is a back up weapon after all.
