I've gone through the six steps in the 'R&RMF' thread, and here are my logs!

I've gotten rid of a lot of junk but there still seems to be some stuff that is trying to pop up IE windows (while browsing with Firefox) and other assorted junk. I'm going to continue hunting them down but also wanted to post the logs to see if there were any general recommendations on how to proceed from here.

    Thanks!

Scan and have HJT Fix the following:
Reboot to Safe Mode and delete the following files:
    Reboot to Normal Mode.

    Post a fresh HijackThis log.

    Done. No problems.

    I found and deleted:

    C:\TAC\Software\Registry Fixup\DisableAutoRestart.reg

I could NOT find the other two files:

    C:\TEMP\salm_gdf.dat
    F:\Old Data\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\videox.inf

My machine is set to SHOW hidden files. They were not there though.

    Your log is clean.

    How is your computer running?

Computer's running good, certainly much better than when I started this process. I'm still suspicious that there may be some other unwanted programs lurking on my machine that I plan to keep hounding.

Would you have any recommendations on ways to dig a little deeper? Any other programs to use or ways for me to know what I'm looking for?

Also, when it is appropriate to turn off system restore and reboot? I'm guessing it's when I reach a point that I'm comfortable that I'm sufficiently malware free?

In any case, thanks very much for the help. This site is honestly one of the best places I've found on the web!

There are many differnet scans you can run, they will all find things the others don't find; not all of it is malicious. The scans we have you run find all the active stuff and most of the inactive malware.

You can turn off System Restore, reboot, Then turn on System Restore.

    Your system is sufficiently clean.
