Hakcing through the phone

So yea someone tried to scam me by hacking my comp to alter things while talking to me through the phone. being new and all software sounded like the right place for this so, my question here is there a software that can prevent them from hacking my through the line like that. It's kind of a waste of my time when they do. It would also explain why the call had so much interference. I'm well aware the hacking some1 in this manner is possible.
Thankfully my shrewd nature led me to bg check the site there were scam complaints galore. If nothing else is there a software that has a list of scam sites, cuz honestly that should totally be a thing.

They altered the event viewer files to try and convince me the defrag was being corrupted but when i went back and checked there were no errors for the defrag instead they made other error messages seem like they were coming from the defrag. The only errors were from a side by side app and mozilla, (which isn't suprising seeing as how it closes out infrquently for no reason). Is there a program to prevent this too?

Your computer cannot be hacked through the telephone line you are talking on.

Alright so then how were they able to alter the event viewer so that the errors associated themselves with the defrag. rather than what they were supposed to be.

All indications point to the call quality being as bad as it was as being hacked that way, after all my comp is hardwired.

I'm not sure what you are seeing, but it did not come from your phoneline.

There wsnt anything to see it was how bad the call quality was that gave me the impression they were altering things on my comp. I've gotten calls from India and the quality while not perfect was far better than this. Honestly I could barely understand them at all and the fact that it disconnected well even more reason especially since it happened twice.

So nough bout that is there any way to prevent them from altering the event viewer tin the manner that I described or any programs specifically notable for detecting when your being hacked. Heck event a hacker tracing program might scare them off.

I'm not really understanding what the issue is for us to think you are being hacked, and therefore prescribe a prevention for it.

Nobody is going to hack you to rearrange event viewer messages. If they are going to hack you, its going to be to steal your personal info for ill gain.

It was a scam all I know is the event viewer files associciated the errors with defrag and that was during the call but when we got disconnected the error files associated with defrag were nowhere to be found is there any other explainaition for that? Also it was all for a scam, meaning one way or another they were doing it for money.

I didnt see a rule against this but

That's how far they went just to try to get their scam to work, and that's how i know they were already hacking me. honestly they were the same guys cuz they tried to lead me to the site but due to the bad phone connection (and cuz I pretended to know very little about the internet or being otherwise tech savy) they got cut off. that's why I'm asking for programs to lock out hackers or even tracer program that alerts the authorities when I'm hacked or something to add an incentive not to bust into my computer.

I think it is more likely that they attempted to scam you through social engineering and that your computer issue is something separate.

Um sure but did you read the complaint file that guywrote his screen blanked out on him nad a whole bunch of other stuff too when the threatened and he refused. and someone else had a similar experince. They changed his compr password and lpcked him out of it, what virus does that or error for that matter?

But i'll go with your suggestion, so if it wasn't them hacking me and making the event viewer associate errors from non defrag apps with the defrag then what else would've caused it?

Possibly a virus or malware. Check in with our malware forum and get your computer checked out. Refer to this thread when you do.

    Thanks!

I already have malwarebytes anti malware installed so I should be fine. after all it's free and I honestly can't afford programs that require a pay to renew subscription. in fact i just now deleted the malware from my comp just now after it finished the scan. I honestly just want a software that'll hlp defnd me against or event warn me that i;m being hacked into After all cutting my internet connection is easy since it's all i'd have to do is unplug it from the internet.

Our services here do not require any cost. There is a malware removal forum here and nobody pays to use it. While the programs you listed are good, they do not prevent everything.

ok but do you have anything that could give me an early warning if I'm being hacked perhaps? Honestly I feel like I need something anything to give me a little edge even if it's just an alert to will let me know.

also do you have any programs that can fix errors, firefox has been giving the 0x8000003 error to the event viewer.

The early warning is when someone calls you and tells you your computer has problems. Just hang up. These scams have been around for years and they continue as long as people don't hang up the phone but instead give an unknown person remote access to his/her computer.

Turn off remote access and hang up the phone!

You two do know that someone cannot use rdp without a user knowing about it, right?

I do but I help a lot of senior citizens who really don't know much about computers.
