Half Life 2 Crash

Hi, i was wondering if anyone could help with Half Life 2 problems, After i load up the game and load the level, Half Life 2 crashes. No specific information about the crash is provided it just says "hl2.exe has encountered a problem and has to close" It is a completely legit version (Orange Box Version)

My system specs are:
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT with latest Beta drivers
Windows Xp home pro (Legit)
1gb Kingston ram
250 gb hard drive
If you need more info just ask

Try using a different set of video drivers, could be the fact that yours are beta. Go to nvidia.com and download their latest whql drivers and see if that helps

 

Ive already tried that, At first i was using the newest 169.21 drivers and they weren't working, So i changed to the beta drivers to see if it made a difference.

 

Have you tried rolling back the drivers? It is an older game, after all.

Are you able to play any other games or is it just HL2?

 

Im able to play Portal and TF2 But Hl2, ep1 and ep2 crash, But i tried the -nosound command and it worked.. so i think it might have something to do with sound

 

Sound drivers next then? Alternatively, go to a Half-Life 2 forum and search the sticky threads... if this is a known problem, that's where the answer would be.
