My Lakers won the Conference finals!! :celebrate

Now they get to rest, recuperate, study LOTS of film, and then face whoever comes steam rolling out of the East. And if they play like they did tonight... it will be a beautiful ride!

Mimsy, I don't have a clue what you're on about but congrats to you anyway

 

Basketball. The boy loves it. Goes to practice after school and goes to the home games of the Newcastle Eagles with his school. Apparently the Lakers and the Falcons have a bit in common. They've both had very successful seasons. So I'm told.

 

More specifically, NBA basketball. My Lakers just won the Western Conference Finals. On Thursday of the upcoming week they will play the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals in the NBA Finals, a.k.a. the Big Finale. Whoever wins that wins it all. Last year my brave team lost the NBA Finals to our evil and filthy arch-enemies, the Boston Celtics... this year we are back for a second try. We are of course unbearable smug about the fact that the Celtics are not.

Joey, the LA Lakers' season regular record was 65-17. They won their division, and they have now won their conference. It's been a good year. No matter how it ends, it has been a very good year. :wine

Chris (the boy) has a passion for basketball that I rarely see in youngsters today. I'm not sure if he likes the Lakers. Will ask him, but I can't guarantee you'll like the answer. I've heard him mention the Celtics in the past, but not sure why. rolleyes

Newcastle won three of the four major trophies this season and have been dubbed the greatest team in BBL history. Shame Newcastle's football team is crap.

Guess what? The boy likes the Lakers. He mentioned the Celtics to tell me the Lakers would wipe the floor with them. :-D
He says Lakers to win by two games again.

 

The boy clearly is very smart and has great taste.

And he's right... this year's incarnation of the Celtics entered the play-offs without three of their starters due to injuries, whereas the Lakers have grown and improved a lot since last year. They're both different teams this time around. If the Celtics were at their full power, it would be different, then it would be a toss-up. For now though, the Lakers would beat them very thoroughly.
