Well I got cs to where I can play it with a decent ping and now it doesnt kick me by changing the access number. But now I am getting an application error that says something about reference memory error. All my drivers are new and I am running sp2. I have read alot of forums and it seems to be a commen problem, and one guy said he got it fixed by changing his page filing size from Initial size to 550 and Max to 1024. Mine right now Is set to initial size 1536 and max 3072. Does that look high, should I change it?? I dont even know what it does. Thank you for any help you can provide.

have you got all the latest updates for the game? try running it so it will download all latest updates. or try reinstalling game

I believe that It should be all updated. I never set it off of auto update and the first time I installed it It updated. Im going to reinstall my video drivers and the game, do you think it I should disable my firewall when I install it next time? I dont know if it would interfere with anything. Im using zonealarm. And do you think that my earthlink TA2005 software could interfere? It has an accelerator and I know it can mess up drivers, I dissable it when downloading drivers but never thought about it much on anything else.

If your getting memory errors you should look into your ram modules one might be bad.

I reinstalled the game and my video drivers. Here is a pic of the error. I hope its not bad ram Ive been using it for a year with no problems. There are a few others out there that are having the same problem but they havent been able to get it fixed either as far as I know.

HL2 does that to me from time to time if the physics get to complicated........and my ram is underclocked ............

Accually I set my mobo from aggresive to optimal and set my cpu back to 10.5 making it what its supposed to be a 3000+. I played for 30 min this morning without a crash so this might be the solution. but I need to test it more.....If it is the reason I wonder why I never had any problems before.

Getting the same error. I read on Steam's forum that they know about it.

They have like a 17 step guide, including the basics (i.e. updating video drivers, turn off background programs, etc.) but then some off the wall stuff - upgrading motherboard bios !?? I have a clone and wouldnt even know where to start with that.

Weird because Doom 3 works fine, no errors.

Hell, I cannot even get in to play I get the error after the initial screen loads.

    Gotta keep searching.

I don't believe there are any patches for Half Life 2 yet, are there ?

Isn't the whole point of steam that they don't need to issue patches? It just updates itself when required?
