Handling two routers on one network

    Hey everyone,

My current set-up is such that I have a 5 port Sonicwall router and a 13 port Linksys RV016 router on my network. I have the internet coming into the SonicWall and then a LAN port connected to the WAN port of the Linksys (this is so traffic passed to the linksys can still go through some filtering and routing).

Currently the two routers are handling two networks one is 192.168.XX.1 and the other is 192.168.YY.1. I have it like this because I want to give my customers VPN/Remote Desktop access to one computer that is plugged into the SonicWall router. I thought that it seemed more secure to have the two routers handling two different networks.

The Problem: Is there anyway I can get the office computers behind the linksys router to map to the computer on the SonicWall (i.e. so they can map the hard drive and access files as well as remote desktop from all the internal computers behind the linksys).

Thanks in advance for your help and ANY comments you may have!:major

I'm quite sure what the difficulty is your having but sometimes using soho/smb routers like this can be a problem because NAT is enabled. This could be the issue on your Linksys router. Some appliances let you disable it, but others don't. That might help.

Cobia is another option (open source appliance) but I work for that company so I won't make this a sales pitch.

I would sugest on the low end fix getting a neworkable hard drive. On the higher
end a server if the network is worth it.

Thanks for the replies. I really should have done just a little more leg work on my own before posting. As it turns out I didn't have to do anything special. I wanted to computers behind the 2nd router (the linksys) to have network access to the 1st router (the sonic wall) but since I had the linksys WAN connected to a LAN on the sonic wall every computer behind the linksys could access the one computer behind the sonicwall with it's IP address. Turned out to be incredibly rudimentary. Thanks again!
