    Happy Easter

*smiles* A friend just called to ask me how to boil eggs, I had google it! I couldn't remember if it was 10 min.

Start in cold water, bring to simmer and take off the heat and cover. Walla! No green sulfur rind around the yolk. I also like to put a pin hole in the fat end to let air out so they don't crack and stir them a couple of times before it comes to a simmer to center the yolks. Oh yes, 10 to 12 min. to stand.:) Then shock in ice water to stop the cooking for 10min..

Oops I told her to boil them for 10 min, think she will have a green sulfur rind, oh well. Thanks will remember now.

@ Darlene, I always forget about them and not a good result, now I try to set the timer and wear it around my neck, the new timers are handy. That sulfur ring is not good, make boiled eggs seldom but like egg salad.

*grins* I'm easily distracted. Must be catchy too, just got another call "how to decorate eggs" Have to go over and help in a few hours :-D Don't think anyone will want to eat these Easter Eggs!

Can't eat eggs, myself, but when I want to hard boil an egg, I just boil them in rapidly boiling water for 5 mins, the let stand for another five mins, then rinse in cold water a few times.

Easiest way to decorate eggs is to boil them in different food dyes when cooking them. You can the draw on them with coloured Textas or water paints if you prefer.

Hope everyone's had an enjoyable day. Whilst I'm not religious myself, I'll happily respect those that do believe in it - and for the others like me, just use it as an excuse to have a boozy day!

It was nice to have a day off to do whatever I wanted. I definitely appreciated that even though I'm not a religious person.

How religious is a rabbit laying coloured eggs eh?:-D That has to be even stupider than a jolly fat bearded man(thanks to Coca-Cola) giving one presents.:confused :puke

Augie the party pooper. Easter is for the kids, they love it. And the kids adore the idea of Santy Claus. Change your user name to Augieneezer Scrooge. Bah! Humbug.

Ya, but the original intent is lost due to the holidays being co-opted by business. Sure the kids love it but call it something else like 'Bunny Egg Chocolate Day' just like Christmas is called Xmas these days by the politically inept.

I'm just a realistic Buddhist these days.;) Enjoy your milk chocolate buzz and your children.;) :-D

I popped into the supermarket earlier... found a smashed up chockie egg at reduced price... "reduced?" - I asked myself... "At £3.50????" No way! LOL I got a mars bar and was happy

  28. augiedoggie

augiedoggie The Canadian Loon - LocoAugie (R.I.P. 2012)

It better have weighed in at a 1/2 lb Kes for that price! BTW, did you batter and deep fry the Mars bar? I read somewhere that UK'ers love that, just like fish 'n chips!:yum

  29. Paxton007

Maybe by reduced, they meant to rubble?

£3.50, That's $5.18 USD about $1,000 When Obama leaves office.

indeed Augie, I used to work at a fish and chip shop called "happy sole" (LOL) and they sold 'em there.. the thought of it was putrid to me, until I tried one :yum Have to say though, that it seemed to be a bit of a "fad"--at least round these parts, and I don't see them sold at all much now

Deep fried Mars bars originated in Scotland, where they are considered a 'healthy option'. :-D Incidentally, more than 7,000 people aged under 65 die each year in Scotland from diet related diseases, second only to smoking. Coincidence?
