Hard drive access problem

Hi there

I have a little problem my friends mobo died and its such an old computer its not worth fixing but he does need the files i have put his hard drive into my PC but i can't copy the files because he had a password on his old account is there a way of removing this access problem?

Try those two links first... if nothing there works, you can boot to a live CD like Barts PE, or the UBCD4Win, or even a live Linux disc like Knoppix. Then you should be able to access his drive and copy the required folder over to your drive. Then boot to your drive and burn his stuff to a CD or DVD.
I strongly recommend the UBCD4Win (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows). It's basically Windows but it runs from the CD exclusively so all hard drives are accessible. Plus it's full of great tools and utilities. It's a bit of a project to create it, but once it's done, you'll be really happy with it! Here's info:

you didn't say what os (xp, etc.) if it's xp, then the microsoft links provided by dlb should work. i've used it a few times myself.
