I have actually got a hard drive of 40 GB in my computer..(I am currently using Windows XP)

But I need other one (4-10 GB) because I want to install Windows 98 in it .. as I need to run an accounting software which I only runs in Windows 98

I don't have an answer for your harddrive question, but couldn't you just run your accounting program on XP in compatibility mode.

Install the software, right click on the program icon, select properties, and under the compatibilty tab select win98.

You can buy any IDE hard drive. Since you have a 40Gb drive already, your motherboard should be able to handle at least up to a 120 Gb drive without any problems. Any 4-10 GB hard drive WILL definitely work.

Small drives aren't worth the money, even if you can find them.

If all you need is a few GB's, you could always partition your existing hard drive and dual boot.

If you decide to purchase a new one, I wouldn't go for less than 80 GB, and no more than 120 GB. (XP can support 2 Terabytes with SP1 installed, 98 can't support large drives over 137 GB I think.)

It would probably be better if you installed XP on the newer drive, especially if it's larger than 137 GB.

Basically, look for one that is at least ATA100 and 7200 rpm, and has a minimum of a 3 year warranty.

Yes, as long as it is an IDE hard drive rather than an SATA hard drive. IDE and SATA are they ways they connect to your computer. If you check your local Best Buy or Office Max ads tomorrow, they usually have a good deal on a hard drive. Probably something like a 120Gb hard drive for $70-$80 after a mail-in rebate.
