Hard drive beeping while AVG scanning

    Hi All,

    I am using AVG version 8 free antivirus scanner. I recently installed a new power supply (450W) and a new hard drive (Seagate 250g) I am running windows XP and have the hard drive segmented.

    I have noticed of late that whilst AVG is scanning, the hard drive is beeping. It is continual beeping occuring every 5-10 seconds.

    I was thinking myself that it may be that AVG is going through the sectors on the harddrive and possibly picking up bad ones but I am not sure.

    Could someone please advise me what to do.
