I didn't backup my hd and now in big trouble. My maxtor 200gb (6B200P0041011) won't spin at all. I am thinking I might need another circuit board for it. Where can I buy 1 at I am having all kinds of trouble finding 1. Its a 301956100 with B2GBA firmware. Any help will be great. Thanks

    Welcome to MajorGeeks!

If you are talking about swapping the circuit board from the drive, I have heard of people having some success at it, you would need another drive with the same type of board. A guy I use to work for tried this a few times, got one of the drives to spin up, but that was it. He had similar, but not exact drives.

If your data is very important, there are places that specialize in getting data off damaged/dead drives, but they are not cheap.

Try to find the exact drive. I would look on EBay. I looked some on Google, and got languages I do not know.

If you are that set on trying it, please post picts of it.

One more thought from me. There is absolutely no guarantee on this, but it worked for me in the past. DO NOT TRY this if you have data that is important! I had a hard drive that would crash, and if I gave it a good smack with a screwdriver handle, it would work for another month or week. You might also destroy the drive. Best of luck to you.

A few good places to buy pc products that I like are found online at tigerdirect.com & newegg.com. You will need the info, as in brand & model #, etc...& then you should be able to do a search on these websites for compatible products. Do you have access to another pc? If so, you can try putting in your hard drive as a slave (your jumpers have to be in the slave location)...& then you can transfer data from one hard drive to your working pc. I am guessing this might be possible, although it may depend on exactly what is wrong with your hard drive that crashed. I'm not too sure of all the hardware issues involved that you are speaking of, so this is just a novice suggestion. But again...tiger direct & new egg -- both found online -- are great places to shop for pc products & they both have a wide variety. If you can fix the problem yourself at all, I would avoid taking it in somewhere... but this is just my personal opinion from my own experience. If you have any computer knowledge at all, major geeks can walk you through almost anything...at least that is what they've done for me. Also, are you certain you didn't have spyware/virus issues that caused the hard drive crash? I'm sure you know specifically what caused the problem, so again this is a question from a hardware novice. Good Luck & keep us posted on your progress! :)Shanrene
