hard drive diagnostic for SCSI?

    I'm looking for a utility for scanning SCSI drives, and viewing the SMART attributes. MS or Linux. I currently use Victoria 4.3, HD tune etc. on IDE drives.

    Halo, thanks for the suggestions.

    I've tried smartmontools [via Parted Magic live cd's GSmartControl] but the SCSI drives I've connected aren't showing any SMART data. Maybe they are too old to have SMART? They are in the 4GB-9GB range. I think I also tried a 20GB drive.

    I looked into HDD Health. Apparently it is an actively monitoring program. I'm looking for something to scan a drive that I connect to my test machine for a one-time test session.

    Your thought on age had me go read up about the history of SMART, seems while it started in the early 90s it wasnt adopted until late 90s for mass consumer drives just enterprise class, would thought SCSI would be in that catagory, but you could be right drives of that size will be kinda old and may not have SMART built in.


    Did a little search of a list of apps I have for various tasks and apps I want to test at some point and noticed this one http://hddscan.com/ just tried it out and its quite good as its a standalone app requiring no install (will need to be in Vista and Windows 7 run as admin to pick up the SMART status), so good for use on a USB pen for portability.

    So may just tick your boxes as it mentions SCSI in the specs, but I dont have SCSI drives to test.
