hard drive fixed

i down loaded ad-adware se personal from major geeks after weeks of problems with my hard drive. kept getting this message when i switch it on pri hard drive status s.m.a.r.t bad back up and replace. scanned my pc with ad -adware personal and quarantine all infected files now it run fine....

If you got that message during the POST (Power on self test) of your machine, then it wasn't spyware.. You may still want to consider heeding the advice given and backup important files. S.M.A.R.T is a technology that almost all new drives come with.. it's a good idea to listen to it.

S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) is designed as an early warning diagnostic that checks the drive's actual physical health, not the state of your software. If you've been getting warnings from it, your drive IS dying. The good thing about SMART is that it can warn you early enough to save all your stuff and replace the drive before it dies, leaving your stuff lost.

I'd recommend downloading and installing Speedfan, which among other useful functions, can run and display detailed S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic tests. You can grab it here:

When I replied earlier...I was just glancing and was just congratulating you on what appeared to be a quick and easy fix...and I didn't pay attention to the details of what you said...my bad!!

As they said above...I would be doing some backing up of the important stuff and be prepared to put it under the knife sometime in the near future!!
