I'm currently working on an HP that had a hard drive start to go out in it, it seems to be ghosting the images fine but the problem is, with the Recovery Partition i cant get it to boot from either partition, it just says missing operating system, i also cant get the master boot record to copy, right now i am installing a fresh version of windows on the new HDD so i can ghost the user partition from the old HDD and be able to boot from it, so in all actuallity, my question is, does anyone have any idea how to properly clone an HP hard drive with the recovery partition and make it work like the original?

Hmm, I've managed to it by using Norton Ghost and doing a direct drive-to-drive copy. Both drives were in good working order at the time though. I'm not sure if that would work with one drive failing...
