Hard-drive gone A-wall!!!

hi guys,....awhile back a bought a laptop and it was vista,..so i put Xp succesfully on it i dont know how many times,...my problem now is that im getting this message when i try to put XP or Vista on it

'Setup was unable to format the partition. the disk may be damaged.

make sure your drive is switched on and properly connected to your computer.
If the disk is scsi disk, make sure your scsi devices are terminated. Consult your computer manual or scsi documentation for more info.'


thats the message i keep getting everytime i try to reformat it. The actual hard drive its self is blank as it failed to reformat a few months ago and it hasn't been right since.

ive tried installing a range of different OS but to no succes,..i even installed a version of Linux but that didn't stay on the OS either ..



so any and all help will be appreciated!!!!!!!
