    Hi
I am trying to install a hard drive (C:) from a redundant PC into my desktop. The drive is in working order. I currently have an XP system and all is working fine with C:, D: and G: partitions on the existing master drive. DVD is E:
After installing the additional drive piggy backed to the existing master drive as a Slave drive, it appears as Drive E: and is fully accessible. The DVD seems to have disappeared?

I am also unable to format the additional drive from FAT32 to NTFS. Error message says drive is in use by Windows ???

What am I doing wrong? :-o:-o:-o

    Cheers,
    Ken

Go into Disk Managment and delete the partitions on your added drive. Then repartition and format. Does this work? If not, you will have to delete the partitions and format offline with a bootable partition managment program.

In Disk Managment, do you see your DVD drive and is there a drive letter assigned to it.

    Hi Tgell

Jumping Jelly Beans........How did you do that? The DVD is back in the land of the living and the additional drive is formatted and waiting for data. One real Silver bullet !
    Cheers,
    Ken
