I have a HP laptop and the hard drive is partitioned with C: 285 gb and D: 12.9 gb. My wifes Toshiba has C: 99.9 gb and D: 350 gb. Shouldn't the C: drive be larger than the D: drive? Is there anyway to move some of the space to the C: drive and wouldn't it allow it to run faster too??? thanks.

No it wouldn't be faster and the size of each partion doesn't really matter for reasons other than organisation.

What your looking at are two different things, the HP laptop has the whole system drive on one partition which is C:, the D: partition is the recovery partition and is not accessed during regular usage.

Toshiba pre partition the drives into C: as the system partition and D: as a data partition, this isn't a recovery partition it's a data partition to put all your large files on such as movies ect. and can be used during normal usage.
