hard drive problem

Hi I`am wondering if anyone knows where I can download service pack 1 for XP must be able to put on CD so I can transfer to the kids computer.I need this so it will recognize the 160G hard drive.PS I`am running Vista on this one. THANKS

Here's a link directly to the download page for SP1a. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/expresso.mspx Click the small "Go" button on the right side under the box where you'd select your language. This link is designed for people not using Internet Explorer because it doesn't install the service pack, it downloads the file for installation later. This may be more convenient as you can also save the file on a CD for future use. Personally, I think you should get SP2 (or even SP3) but the choice is yours. Here's links to SP2 and SP3 if you're interested:

Thanks for the links,the reason I wanted s.p.1 was because it contains the software to activate the hard drive properly. THANKS AGAIN

 

So does SP2, plus tons of other security and performance fixes....

 

Another reason for using sp1 is I`am on dialup and download time for sp2 is approx. 10hrs. 49min.Thats what happens when live in the boonies.Thanks again for the help,this place is great!
