Hard Drive Problem?

Hi,

It’s been a while since I’ve needed some help but I’ve got a problem that concerns me. I have a 200 gig HD and I’m getting warnings that I have less than 1 gig of usable space remaining! For the life of me I can’t figure out what’s eating up space. I have no films saved, I have Corel Draw but that’s not taking up too much space. Is there an application I could download to easily see what’s on my HD and how much space is taken up by each program and files? Is my HD starting to go bad?

Usually this problem is one program that is creating an unusually large and non-critical file which can be deleted. You do not want to delete anything in the Windows folder. Post back with any questions about a large file you find but aren't sure you can safely delete.

Looks like I found the problem. Apparently every vidio clip I've ever looked at went onto my HD. I've got most of 3 Le Mans races, news casts, etc. It's going to take me forever to eliminate everything.

If you are having trouble finding the files on disk then WinDirStat might be a better program. It color codes the files and has the option to right-click the file and open an Explorer window at the proper location.

The files aren't labeled but mousing over gives you a name. Might be worth a look. http://windirstat.info/

[I had switched to SpaceSniffer because it shows more hidden/system files but the files you need aren't hidden and the Explore Here option in WindirStat is handy]
