i'm having a problem in reformatting my hard drive. i booted from my windows xp cd and deleted the partition with everything on it. i then had to shut down my pc before i could reinstall my windows because of a small emergency. when i rebooted and booted from the windows disk to reformat and install windows, i now get a bunch of different error messages saying that certain files could not be loaded or read. i've used 2 different windows disks. could my cd drive be shot or could my hard drive just be no good anymore?

Are you sure your computer is reading from the CD Drive first? If you are not positive, click on the F key that allows you to go to Boot options and make sure the CD drive is listed first (you will want to make sure that is changed back after installing XP). Post back and let me know if that solves it.

    :)

i'm pretty sure it is. when i reboot with the windows disk in it says press any key to boot from cd. then it goes through the system set up and when i try to format the drive and install windows i get various error messages about certain files not being able to be read.
