OK..this has been bugging me since the great crash of 2006 on my lappy. It got a new HD. The previous one was 100GB, and according to Belarc and other diagnostic checks, this one is 100GB too. So why does it show up in properties as only having a joint total capacity between the C and D drives of only around 55GB confused

I checked the other PC and that one reads accurately....

What OS did you have on your laptop ???

I knows when your partition your harddisk you lose some space but it should not be that much......

Did you try a scandisk ???

What does Disk Management say the drive/partitions are size wise, and are their any unallocated spaces?

    Holy hard drives! It says:

    C - 43.86
    D - 5.86
    Unallocated - 43.44

So, my next question is HOW do I allocate it to my C Drive? Why did they do this when they put the new HD in? Seems kinda futile.

@Clark: I'm running XP Media and I haven't run chkdsk, pending answers to the above Disk Management findings.

This has now been resolved and formatted as an F: Drive using Computer Management >Disk Management incase anyone was wondering.
