I have a 200 Gig drive that is recognized as 131 only. Would a flashing of the bios correct that? If it does will that just free up the rest of the space and be reconized through windows again or will I have to reinstall windows after the BIOS is flashed for it take effect?

Flashing the BIOS may correct this, although you would have to repartition and format to get the extra space.

Does your motherboard support 48 bit LBA?

What OS are you using? 48 bit LBA requires SP1 for Windows XP.

I'm running windows 2000 and it is supported. You have to make some registry entries. I also found some good information on 48bitlba.com. It says that you also have to have a 48 bit compadable BIOS, which I'm trying to find out from my Mobo manual but the site is down. Im assuming I do it's AsusT533 which is about two years old (a great board by the way)......Thanks for the help....

Mircrosoft had nuff info on it......

Question: What computer are you using? Major Brand like HP or Compaq or are is it a component build?

That's good. I asked because frequently the Big Boxes (HP, Compaq, etc.) have a real problem installing and running any proggies or hardware except their own propritary stuff. I only buy and build component stuff myself for that very reason. Example: A few years ago a buddy of mine bought a 100 gig hd. He was running a Compaq box. The Compaq would only recognize 80 gigs. Final reason (after much badgering of Cpmpaq help (?) desk he was told "We only make an 80 gig hd so oput computers will only recognize 80 gigs. No, no drivers. No, no bios flash. No nothing will make our set use a hundred gig hd gully. At the same time I installeda 100 gigger on my hd with absolutley no probs. Moral: Compnent rigs get along with each other, Big Boxes seem . . . not to.
