DBAN may not be necessary. Any number of things could cause a slow down. How much free space do you have (in percent) on your hard drive? Have you defragged/optimized the hard drive? How many programs do you run at startup? Have you checked for malware?

What OS are ye running? 32bit/64bit? How much ram? What type of HDD ye running SSD/other? Some computer specs could help.
