I am fairly computer literate but I have a question about installing a new hard drive.

    This is my situation:

I have a 60GB 2MB cache Seagate with Win XP on it. Very stuffed and slow. All my files are on it and I would have to backup about 10GB (No DVD burner so this would be quite painful).

What I want to do is install a new 80 GB maxtor and get my XP on it.

My question is. After I install the 80 GB one, can I just pop in my old 60 as a slave and copy my files over?

    Any issues/dangers with this?

    Thanks!

    Chris.

Thats exactly what I have done. I usually install windows on the new drive and then plug the old drive back in as slave and move all the files I want over. Then format the old hard drive - just to get it nice and 'fresh' and clear Windows from it totally! Then you are free to organise the drives as you see fit.

I have heard of problems running two drives with windows, even with one set as slave, but I have never encountered any difficulty.
