hard drive

k so about a 3 weeks ago my hd died, so I went to the local computer shop and bought a cheap used one because Im buying a new one soon(pc), and for some damn reason this hd is messing up my pc. Like just a second ago, my mouse and KB stopped working, and I had to pull the plug (well...didnt have to..) and its done it when I leave the pc alone, but now its doing it while Im using it. should I take this hd back and tell him its f'd up? or do you think its something else?

I doubt the HDD is your problem

its a Compaq 1.5ghz (old yea)
512mb ram
2 hdds (20gb and 30gb)
cd-rw drive
dvd drive
floppy
win xp
dunno the power supply. edit it says 250w

but see, this never used to happen on the old hd. :\ and it just like stops responding... oh and I dont know if this helps, but it runs 24hrs day 7days a week most weeks... oh and the hd does make this whinning sound...and doesnt want to spin down like the old one did.
