Novice here. Just got cpu back from "the doctor". Said a sector was damaged, and cpu has 3 to 12 months left to live. Doctor was able to get it running again "for now". I have a CTX Nupopia, 7 years old. Doc said my cpu is built to handle max 8 gig drive, but the smallest made today is 40 gig. He also mentioned something about mine being 80 something compatible, but machines today are 166 something? Not sure what that something was, and wanted to run this by the good people on this site. You will likely know to what I refer, and please give opinions if Doc is correct? Is there not a cpu junkyard out there, or are the max 8 gig machines really dinosoars? Hoping to get another 2 years out of this beast, lol.

Computer Junkyard.... Ebay. Computer shows are good places to find old stuff too.

Everest is a great program for telling you what is installed inside your PC. Free program. May not run on your PC, if it a really old version of Windows, though.
    Everest Home Edition. www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

When you run EVEREST, Click on "Computer" icon, then on "Summary", then on "Report" (at top menu), then on "Quick Report Summary", down to "Plain text". Save it to a file, as whatever name you like, (maybe PCddmmyy--with ddmmyy being the current date). Then it can be posted for all to see.

Visit charity shops, second hand sellers of computer bits, pawnbrokers, garage sales, car boot sales, computer auctions for bits for old PC's. Bazza
