Hard Drives trouble on laptop

Hi there!

thanks for your help!
I have had my hp pavilion zv500 for 4 years now. Twice already I have had to change the hard drive (under warranty). in summer 06 and summer 07.
Now it looks like its acting up again.

Windows started asking to do a consistncy check on it last thursday. I thought it was trojans related so I asked for help in the malware forum.
but it looks like i also have some hard drive issue.
Chaslang helped me get temp rid of the consistency check as it was bothering. when it tried to run it always got stuck in the second check (index check). i also ran it in windows and it looked like it worked but didnt fix anything.

I got a bunch of file i cant access or get rid of
: corrupted and unreadable.

Anything i can do about it ?

I would really start to look at why you're going through hard drives on such a regular basis. Here it is, Summer 08, and to me it sounds like hard drive #3 is on it's way out. Visit the drive maker's web site, download their diagnostic tool and run the extended/advanced test. This should tell you if the drive is OK. All the main drive makers have these diagnostics except for Toshiba. You can use the Hitachi tool to test Toshiba drives.
