Hard time viewing on Windows8.1

Was using Windows7, harddrive stopped, so upgraded with Windows8.1. Problem I am having is the apps, are hard to "see". Facebook for example, there seems no definition between the various sections of the page. Even the scroll bars are hard to find. Is there some way to correct this? Colors etc. Tried contrast and brightness on the monitor. Still learning 8.1 BTW is there supposed to be green highlighted words on the Majorgeeks pages that bring up ads as you scroll over them? Or do I have some sort of malware?

 

syncman- it's not malware. Some pages have green tag words, some are blue. When you mouse over these words small classified ads with links to product sites show up. I believe it's ads to help support the site but someone in admin can probably give more correct info.

On the view part- have you tried the old way of right-clicking on the desktop-click personalize- and try different themes, colors and background. In colors-I found selecting the 'color mixer' can give better looks than the standard colors.

 

Those ads usually use Flash Player. Do you have it installed? What browser are you using?
