Hardware Identification

  1. Hello Geeks,

I have a laptop that has two HDD bays and they have an adapter of some sort that connects to the motherboard. I have one but need another one to add the second data HDD also an HDD mounting bracket which is a common one but I've had no luck in finding one. I have attached pictures to make it easier for everyone. Thanks for all the feedback.

The picture of the plastic film with the hard drive is usually called a "carriage" or "caddy".

The cable will be a bit difficult to pin down. Does the motherboard definitely have a functioning port for the cable? Sometimes the bay is there, but the connection on the motherboard is not.

Make, specific model, and all relevant info please.

  3. Sorry about that I meant to make the link to the Hardware Specs. Also The cable is taken off the primary HDD which one end is connected to the motherboard itself. I can take a picture of the ports on the motherboard if you want, just let me know. The only thing that has been changed in the specs is that the computer is now running Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

That's a nice laptop. Really nice, espcially in it's day.

    HDD cable here:

Don't forget to make sure the connector is there. Major hassle to get parts and find out they don't work.

    Found this:

It doesn't list the mylar/rails/caddy specifically, but there is useful info nonetheless.

P.S. just for fun, looked into this, but it's probably not worth it at the price point:

    There's a Q and a QX. The QX has a 12MB L2 cache vs. a 6MB on the Q.
