splitt3r You are now the victim of a drive by title change

for a work station i would go

    AMD 3200+(cheap) AMD X2 4200+(dual core=better productivity)
400w OCZ or Antec power supply
1gb pc3200 value RAM corsair, crucial, and kingston are best
video card-Nvidia 6200, unless gaming go with 6800GS
    sound card: onboard
Case:Anything with room for expansion and good reviews.
mobo:ASUS or DFI socket 939 with PCI-E and 4 slots for RAM, SATA support
200gb minimum hdd seagate, western digital, and samsung are good
NEC, liteon, or SONY dvd/rw drive
    monitor:17"viewsonic/samsung/dell are good whith monitors

If you are buying from a big name company i would go with HP the video card isn't necessary if it is only for buisness work that doens't require graphics intense programs.
