has malware affected my novell logon?

good evening ladies & gentlemen

at first glance this post may seem to be in the wrong forum but i don't know

i have recently gone through the all of the readmefirst in connection with a suspected infection, but found nothing

for a week my laptop therafter seemed fine, then one morning took an eon to boot up and equally long to boot down

i immediately betook myself to the website of all knowledge but havent seen anything other than one post which mentioned a d/l from f-prot, which as i run as my primary AV i assume doesn't apply to me as it didn't pick anything up

just to make certain,however i took the laptop into work this pm to d/l the latest updates, and i couldn't log in as the netware client said a "netware function could not be carried out; please consult your error log"

has my rooting around messed something up, and this is thus can fix myself, or is this something i should take up with our IT guys on monday?
