    Hi,

I have the current setup atm:

    2X GTX280
    E8500
    790i ultra

I have had errors since I got this computer though with freezing, during games or movies mainly it would completelly freeze with looping sound.

I RMA'd the graphics cards once and the motherboard twice then someone told me it may be the RAM.

So i ran memtest and the RAM failed, i bought some new RAM which arrived yesterday, and hoped the problem would be solved.

However as soon as I put it in it froze after about 2 hours use, 3 times in a period of about 1 hour, then i got a BSOD saying something about memory_management, then I was fine for a few hours until i got some display issue.

the error message display driver has stopped responding and has recovered appeard twice, then the entire screen went pixilated multicolored kinda like when you get no TV singal.

I then ran memtest last night on this new ram and it was on for 8 hours 9 passes with no errors.

Today ive left it on all day and had no freezes when using it at all but i have had FPS drops when testing in wow, also some really bad screen tearing occured at one point, lasted for about 30 secs and i havnt seen it since.

I have no other GPU to test and dont wanna buy a new one if i dont have to, any ideas?

First, check the NVIDIA support site: Do you have the latest drivers? Windows Update won't always automatically find and install them.

Try undoing SLI and running one card at a time. If the problem only happens with one card or the other, move the suspect card to the other video card slot. This will narrow down if the root cause is one of the video cards or a video card slot on the mobo.

Are you getting enough cooling on the GPUs? I have seen cases in SLI and Crossfire where the 2 GPUs are packed so tightly together one essentially has its fan blocked. Going from a cold boot (PC off for a few hours), does it take several minutes to an hour or more for the problems to start? If you restart the PC immediately (hot), do the symptoms come back quickly? This is a red flag on possible cooling issues.

Finally, if all else fails, see if a friend has a good used video card you can borrow. Install it. If the issues repeat, we're down to either the mobo or memory.

Some boards are very picky on memory. At this point, you should be using memory that is on the mobo mfr's approved/tested list. I have had some issues where even the best quality memory brands won't play nice on a specific mobo.

    Hope this helps. :)
