Ok, Firstly my pc is ancient history-its about 7 yrs old and still running windows ME. Secondly, although my pc is old i've NEVER had this type of problem before it started last sunday. When i start up my pc and want to connect to the internet, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt (after about 30 seconds, when i pull up task manager its "not responding"), when it does work it takes between 30 seconds to 1 min to even open the brower (IE 6) and then it takes twice as long to open the page (if it doesnt "stop responding") and finally after about 20 minutes the whole system its self will freeze up and i will have to restart. I think my problem is C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLOADED PROGRAM FILES\UWA7P_0001_N91M0809NETINSTALLER.EXE but i cant find it to get rid of it! its not in my downloaded program files.

so came here and did everything that i was told from the basic maintenance to d/l'ng and running all applications. Everything seemed to work except the getrunkey one. I got a strange message (which i attached but i dont think its what you are looking for) and my pc is still just as bad as it was, i dont know what else to do! I think that is it, any other information i will gladly provide. Thanks for your help! :)

    Download
    - Pocket Killbox
    - ExplorerXP

    Now run Pocket Killbox:

Choose Tools -> Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.

NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue..

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):
    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If Killbox does not reboot or you get a Pending Operations type error message just reboot your PC yourself.

    Now boot into SAFE MODE

Open ExplorerXP navigate to and DELETE the following: (Some of these may have already been deleted by Pocket Killbox)
Now run CCleaner. If you have Windows XP delete the contents of C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch.

Then, as an added precaution, Go to Start -> Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:

    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin

    And Click OK.

    REBOOT to Normal Mode.

    Post the following logs:
    ShowNew
    GetRunKey
    HijackThis

ok i ran the first part (the pocket killbox) and that went smoothly but when i restarted into safe mode and went to run the explorerXP this was the error message that i recieved :

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime error!

    Program C:\ExplorerXP\ExplorerXp.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact application support for more information.

so i didnt bother to run the new logs because i didnt think the information changed, but i can run them if needed. On another note, when i restarted my pc when i came home, i was deep in thought about something and wasnt paying attention to my pc just letting it load, well behold my suprise when IE popped up and started loading and i hadn't even touched my pc yet! it kinda creeped me out. Not even sure how it happened.

It is getting difficult to support older OS's like you have! Please download the latest version of GetRunKey from here: Using GetRunKey Run it to get a new log and attach the c:\runkeys.txt log for Shadow! I just tested this version on a system running Windows ME. Some of your errors I understand. They were due to your OS not supporting some commands. I'm not sure why you had a sharing error though. Let's see what happens this time.

Run HijackThis. Click the 'Do a system scan only' button. Place a checkmark in the box next to the following lines:
Click on the 'Fix checked' button. Wait for HijackThis to finish; close HijackThis.

    Reboot

    How are things working?

Well, a few days a go I was watching CSI:NY and my pc froze up, so i just shut it down and went to bed. The next day when i was going to watch CSI:Miami, I turned on my pc and somehow my audio drivers were gone, i had no sound at all and i couldnt connect to the internet to download them because my usb drives werent working either(this had happened before and i dont know how you can just "lose" a driver confused ). So i ran the recovery disks (it wasnt supposed to delete anything just restore what was missing but it did delete things) and now everything is back to normal. So its all good. Plus im getting a new pc soon! Probably alot more detail then you needed, sorry!

Thanks so much for all your help!!!!
