    Hi hoping someone can help..
Just bought parts to build a new system, bought a few in the past no probs, but this time the mother board has SATA and PCI express compatibility.
Did everything as usual but realised I had my graphics card in the wrong slot! I put it in the AGI express slot by mistake.
Have tried other parts etc IDE hard drive as opposed to the SATA one that I purchaced, tried 500w power supply and still nothing.
Pc comes on but screen is blank

    Spec
    Asrock 775i915pl-SATA2 motherboard
    200gig SATA/150 seagate drive
    2x 512mb crucial ddr 400mhz pc3200 memory
gforce 6600 gt pci-e graphic card
    pentium 4 630 socket 775 processor

I would be grateful for any input.
    :)

did you mean you forced it in the PCI slot? Since the board doesn't have an AGP slot at all... This is why if your new/old/expert at this stuff, you should always read all the instructions booklets, they are there for a reason.

    Hi thanks for the reply
It was the AGI slot I put it into, its exactly the same as the PCI slot that it is ment to go into.

K thats a new term to add to the books, It seems Asrock made its own "slot" called AGI, which is a bootleg version of AGP, its included so when you go from AGP to PCI-E you can "migrate" easier (ie you dont buy another board). Do you get a light on the board when the pc is plugged in and your PSU power is set to on? If you don't the board is kaput. If you do the card is more likely kaput; when you turn on the pc do you get a post?

Thanks again do you mean the power and hd leds?
The fan and the g/card fan is running as well.
I can also hear the hard drive
Sorry if I sound a bit clueless (which I am) as I said its been a while since Ive built one..

I mean internally on the motherboard, there is a green and red light usually. If you get a green indicator light it means everything is "ok", if its red, then somethings wrong - if there are lights and none of them are blinking, then you got a dead board.

Hi Theres no lights on the motherboard if the card fan and proc fan is still running will that mean the mobo may not be damaged
also would an agp card work in the agi slot :)

The 6600 should be compatable with the AGI slot so the problem could lie elsewhere. There are always problems when installing a new mobo, have a look through the manual and make sure everything is connected properly.

Just a shot in the dark but something I find that people often forget to do is to connect the 12v ATX connector. It’s a small square 4 pin connector usually to the left of the cpu socket. If you don’t connect this the mobo will power up, fans will turn on etc but you won’t get a screen. As to your original question its doubtful that your graphics card would’ve been fried even if it wasn’t compatible with the board, it just wouldn’t work.

Hi thanks again for the help, Ive tried the 4 pin connector but when I connect it nothing comes on, doesnt even power up the pc.

previously when you said you had power, was the led light on at the front of the computer? Had you connected the front panel connectors?
