I had the Rootkit.cloaked/services-gen virus so I am going through your fantastic guide to get my logs. All was well until I ran combofix. I disabled my firewall (comodo) SAS & AVG 8.5 following the instructions but the combofix report said they were still enabled. Anyway I came to re-download Rootrepeal because when I tried to run it I got a message that a DLL (i think),,,or registry key was earmarked for deletion. But I cannot open Firefox anymore - I just keep getting a message that DEP has closed it (I have never had this problem before)....also IE just doesn't open either. I know DEP is a windows thing.....can anybody help

    Rootkit.cloaked/service-gen infection logs attached

    Hi
Please bear with me....I am a newbie.

Basically I had put my PC into standby but noticed the desktop was blank with just the cursor displaying - I booted the PC back up & was presented with a 'web page' type screen flashing up that my PC was being infected & to run this scan...which of course I didn't - but in the background I could see my folders & 1 be 1 the word 'Trojan' was appearing in red. so I immediatley disconnected from the internet - but I could not boot up into normal mode - only safe mode. Managed to run SAS which found the above virus - but everytime I rebooted it was back. Anyway I found your site & worked my way through the read first instructions - & could boot into normal mode.

When running combofix I disabled my antivirus/firewall etc as instructed but combofix said they were still running.

I thought things were looking good but I couldn't connect to the internet Firefox was prevented from opening by windows DEP.....so I ran another SAS scan and the virus is now in 4 places (it was 2 origonally) & now I am back to square 1 and can only boot into safe mode. If I boot into safemode with network - I can access the internet.

I have seen reference to formatting & comletley reinstalling windows.....I really don't want to do that as I have only just put all of my photo's & home video on for editing :cry

I have attached the logs (hope I have done it all right)....and I hope you can help

I have attached both SAS scans (yesterday & today)

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please refrain from opening and resaving the log files like you are doing. You are chaning the formatting and making them difficult to read. It appears that you are opening and saving them with Wordpad, MS Word or something else that is stripping carriage returns (like a UNIX system would). You do not need to open or resave the logs. Any log file that popups up can simply be closed. They are already saved and all you need to do is attach them without changing them.

You are more than a year out of date with your copy of SUPERAntiSpyware (SAS). You also did not attach a log from Malwarebytes (MBAM) as requested. Since you are so far out of date with SAS, you could also be with MBAM so we will fix this later on in the below fix.

Uninstall the below old Sun Java versions:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 13
    Java(TM) 6 Update 6

We also strongly advise caution with the below program since it has caused tens of thousands of PCs to be infected because it has sponsor programs that can cause you to get infected:
    Messenger Plus! Live

    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.

    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this new log.
Now run Malwarebytes and click the Update tab. Then click the Check for Updates button so you update to the current version of the program and database. Then run a new scan with it too. Attach the new log.

Now run Ccleaner. Only use the Run Cleaner button. Do not run anything else on any other forms.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
