I got accepted into a program that teaches mathematical modeling of drug levels and dispostion in the human body under normal condition, with kidney and or liver disease, and other medical conditions that affect drugs in the body. Thats the good news.

The bad news is I have to take a 3 month Calculus review course, along with differential equations and partial differential equations. Its been 31 years since I took a calculus course, and I have barely used it since then. I have never worked with differential equations as far as I recall.

    Any helpful suggestions/advice appreciated !!

You will need a faster calculator than you used 31 years ago....

Actually Texas Instruments came out with their first scientific calculator under $30 ( 24.95 , as I recall) the year I started college (1974). It had little tiny red numbers, LEDs I think, and were only about 3/8 of an inch high, and you had to tip the calc a certain way to see them clearly.

Sounds interesting work tho, I have been of late trying to get my brain in learning mode..... thankfully as far as I know I dont have to know calculus!

Here's the original calculator. $24.95 in 1977, although I'm almost positive I got mine in 1974 or 75

Thanks sizjam. The first link looks like a good review, but the second link does not seem to work for me - could you double check it ?

yeah, like halo said, it could be a distance issue, since it also works fine for me. The bbc 'as guru' (Halo's first link) is particularly useful for me, but i'm not quite sure what standard you need the stuff explained :)

Thanks or the links, both of you. Sizjam, the second link is working now, so I don't know what happened earlier.

As for what I am looking for - all levels - I will be saturating myself in the subject for several months, and like to start at the "bonehead level", as I find it often helps me remember important concepts. Not always an efficient method, but it seems to work for me. :)

If it helps, I googled and looked all over, wound up at Target for the calc for my daughter- $109. I think it said TI83 Plus...... There were killer deals (free after rebate) in August, but she waited until Sept to spring on me she needed one. And borrowed one until Jan. ;)

I already have the calculator - A TI 89 titanium, VERY nice, and way beyond what I used in the 70's. My wife has a TI 83 silver edition that she was required to get for her math courses ( She went back to college a couple years ago).

    Thanks for the info, though.

Good deall on the new program. :) It is a very interesting area, i.m.o. One of the few times I rally needed calculus was with Molecular Topography, the other was with some far out Relativity Theory.

Starting at the beginning is wise, even for the experienced. Otherwise it can get confusing later on if you're rusty on the elementary stuff.
