There was a news item on this last year, though I'm not sure if it was the same cat.

I've heard of these. Somewhat analogous to a Mule. (Donkey-horse cross). Offspring are also sterile, A.F.A.I.K., so the DNA from the parents is only partly toxic to each other, as opposed to completely, as between most species. I'll bet it eats more than its parents combined, too.

 

years back a friend of mine said he visited an animal park here and had seen a "zonkey". a cross between a zebra and a donkey. i thought he was winding me up at first until he showed me a picture he had taken
