Having a font problem (I think).

I just installed a new hd on the computer and I noticed it before that install. I only noticed it on one thing though; when I tried to run the Network Wizard instead of words to guide me, it was the square looking zeroes. That's all I noticed it on before the install and format. Now I'm noticing it on all the different programs I try to install (but just part of the wording, I can still read what to do and options to check, things like that) and when I try to print from the internet, it prints nothing but those square zeroes. I did a search and found the suggestion to have TweakUI fix the fonts. I tried that, but to no avail. Is this a font problem, a dumb computer user problem, or something else?

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?

Its could be that the font in question needs reinstalling.

A quick question. Is this a new hard drive that you added to your computer? As in, now you have two hard drives?

Or did you install a new hard drive to REPLACE the older hard drive and re-installed ME?

funky munky, is there any way to find out which font it is that needs to be repaired?

thefool, I installed a new hard drive to replace my old one and then formatted it with the HP recovery discs with WinME.

Have you tried start, control panel, display, appearance, advance? this should show you the name of the funky font. Then try choosing another font and see if it works.

I don't have an advanced feature under the appearance tab in my display panel. The font options there are all greyed out too. Any other ideas of what it could be? It's still happening.

I just had a brief look at my all my fonts and it seems that the only ones that are squares instead of letters are the fonts with the A icon. The TrueType fonts seem to be okay; or I haven't yet found one that has any squares instead of letters and numbers. Also for some of the messed up A type fonts, it's only certain sizes that are messed up. Mainly the larger fonts. Size 12 is okay but anything bigger is squares.

How about you start up in safe mode. Reset display to default. I am really not sure why you would not have font option at your standard logon? But if I throw out these options maybe another viewer will get it...
