    Hi,
I got Braviax on my computer yesterday, and have done everything to try to remove it (unsuccessfully), so now I'm turning to you guys. I was able to run MGtools, so I've attached the log. I hope someone can be of assistance. Thanks!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

MGtools is only a small part and it is the last part of our cleaning procedure. You must run all steps. Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

Well, that's another problem. SUPERAntiSpyware doesn't install, Spybot installs but won't run, and ComboFix doesn't do anything. I was able to run CCleaner, defrag (using jkdefrag), update Java, and run MGtools. Any ideas?

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove
Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_04\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [braviax] braviax.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [braviax] C:\WINDOWS\system32\braviax.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: bekb.exe
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: cru629.dat

NOTE: HJT may popup an error about the AppInit_DLLs line. Ignore it and click OK to continue.

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Do not change any check box options!!
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it into the Input script here: part of the window:
    • Now click the Execute button.
    • Click Yes to the prompt to confirm you want to execute.
    • Click Yes to the Reboot now? question that will appear when Avenger finishes running.
    • Your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt and it will popup for you to view when you login after reboot.
Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local Settings\Temp

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now see if you can run SUPERAntiSpyware and ComboFix as requested in the READ ME.

Now download the current version of MGtools from here: MGtools.exe Save it to C:\MGtools.exe like the READ & RUN ME requested. Then double click on MGtools.exe to install the new version and run the scans. Be patient and allow it to finish. It is searching for a lot of info.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\avenger.txt
    • SUPERAntiSpyware log
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now! It will take two messages to attach the 4 logs.

Thanks for all the help so far!
The error about bekb.exe I had been getting at startup is gone, and so is the red circle with the x, so I appear to be okay.
Now the only thing is that Combofix didn't change my clock back, but that's not a big issue. Also, it appears that the Avenger log didn't get saved. Should I run it again?

You can fix your clock from Control Panel ->Regional and Language Options and then on the Regional Options tab click the Customize button then on the next form click the Time tab. Then change the Time format to what you want. It explains there what the lower case and upper case letters will do. Upper case H is giving you 24 hour clock settings.

This means that it did not run properly and based on your logs, I see lots of things that were not removed. We will try again but this time we will use ComboFix since you seem to be able to run it now.

I suggest that you cleanup all of the clutter on your Desktop. Cluttered Desktops is malware's playground. If you need these files, move them someplace safe for permanent storage.

You need to copy this fileC:\i386\beep.sys to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and to C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

The below files on your PC are infected and these applications will have to be uninstalled to fix the problem. One of them was supposed to be protecting you from issues like this (i.e, Norton) .
Uninstall Norton immediately. You can reinstall it after we finish removing all the malware that Norton did nothing to protect you from. All of the Dell tools and InstallShield should also be uninstalled.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box into it:
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Things are looking much better but the below file

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\DLA\DLACTRLW.EXE

is still infected with Win32.Agent.zb and will have to be deleted or you will have to uninstall and reinstall the Sonic software you have on your PC. Do you use this software for burning CD/DVDs? If it came with your PC, you should have disks that you can reinstall it from if you need it.

So uninstall the Sonic Software and then make sure the above mentioned file has been deleted. Then reboot and run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it.

    Then attach the below log:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now! If things are working OK then start reinstalling the software you had to install. Get your PC reprotected ASAP.

Ya, I use the Sonic software for CD/DVD burning, and I still have the cd for it, so it's been uninstalled. I also reinstalled Norton and ran a scan. Everything should be good now.

    You're logs are clean.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN
      • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
      • Note: The space between the X and the /U, it must be there.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you run RenV.exe, you can delete it and the Log.txt file on your Desktop.
    9. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    10. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    11. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    12. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    13. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
