Having problems installing Printer

I have a Dell Inspiron 600M that i'm trying to connect to a HP6500 EZ10n-z printer on a wireless network. In my house i have a wireless router, 2 desktops, and said wireless printer. Both desktops can print, but the Dell laptop is not connecting to the printer after software installation. However the Dell laptop connects to the wireless network without problem, just not to the printer.

I don't know if i'm overlooking something very easy because this is my first time trying to connect a laptop to a printer over a wireless network. Can someone please walk me through or point me in the right direction?

Did you set up the network printer on that laptop? What Windows version is on it?

I've loaded the printer software and i'm at the step where it asks me to "connect a new printer or add more software".

I click "connect a new printer" > leads me to my connection type, USB or network (Ethernet/wireless), > I click Ethernet/Wireless > It checks for the Network, which it finds (model name [HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z], IP Address, MAC address, and Network type) > i choose network and click "next" > and i get "Unsuccessful Network Installation" the printer was unable to be installed over the network.

The printer network was set up on my desktop that is hard wired to wireless router so no the network printer was not set up on this laptop.

Just a thought but did you install the printer driver on the laptop?

 

The driver's are on the disk that came with the printer, correct? If so that's the disk i'm trying to install.

 

Are you able to uninstall the driver software. Try uninstalling and re-installing. You may not have the latest driver. Install the Basic driver and then try to connect. There is a firmware update for better Network Connectivity and a home network diagnostic utility that may help.

I have the answer for you, HP drivers are problematic!

Half a year ago ive spent a whole day on it and failed.
Then called the tech support, spent 4 hours on the phone with trying anything possible.

Then moved to an expert who explained me that their drivers does not work, and that I should try to install manually with his insturctions

At the end, it worked! :major

SO, I say call the tech support once you have an hour or two free to spend

Yes I do, on a word file in Hebrew I am afraid...

BUT ld not help you anyhow, since we have a differnt printer.

Basicly they need to tell you what driver will work best (they are not sure them selves but they know which ones to try)
