You'll probably be best to format & start fresh. The old drive will have the old drivers form your old mother board causing conflicts.

    XP pro is solid
x64 is looking good too is avaible for free:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/facts/trial.mspx

If your MOBO supports SATA II HDD, then SATA II, you can get Seagate 80gb SATA II with 5 yr warranty for $50 at Newegg ( $100 for raid 0:eek: )
SATA II is also backwards compatitable

Fruity Loops? I like Rice Krispies:p

Fruity loops, I know what it is, I was just being smart ass.
Your best bet is XP pro or Home

x64 free 120 day trial, Free, you can also buy it:
    http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=186/form_keyword=windows+x64
or after the 120day you could reformat but that's cheating

Just to add, some programs might not work with x64, you can find info and/or bunch of program/utility's at PlanetAMD64

    Good Luck!
