Haxdoor virus? STOP: 0x0000008e....

    I can't boot, I get to the start up screen with the Widnows XP logo for about 5 seconds then I get a BSOD: STOP: 0x0000008e.

    I put another hard drive in a did a clean install and everything was OK so I know it's not the memory or hardware. My problem is I don't want a clean install, I want that copy of Windows back up and running.

    I also did a Windows repair and it doesn't help.

    I made a clone of this OS so I can play around with it and if I mess it up I can start over, my problem is, I don't know where to start....

    This is more than likely not a malware problem but it is possibly since Haxdoor has cause this stop error. I assume you have read the below which is why you mentioned it? You will notice that Windows is still bootable in this link though.

    Does it happen when you boot in safe mode too?

    What is the full word for word error message.
