hey whats up... im working on my cousins PC and been running spybot s&d , adaware, mcaffee stinger tool, and a crap load of other stuff,, but almost half way through most of the scans, i get a blue dumping phyical memory screen, the pc gets locked up in that screen, and wont come out, so u have to restart,, the problem is cause by vdnt32.sys...i later found that that is a virus i guess called haxor... so i guess since its a system file its in my registry.. is there an easier way to get rid of this besides turning off my system restore points... cause most of the sys files i get rid of, come back like a minuet later.. u guys ever heard of this or had it?
    thanks

Haxdoor is a well know virus. Have you gone thru the steps in the sticky's? The online scans should take care of it... ;)

You will need to follow the steps below.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus RemovalMake sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

    Now download: HSFix.zip

Extract the tool from the ZIP File to a folder you can easily find (preferably in its own folder - like C:\HSFix).

Now please boot to Safe Mode and DoubleClick hsfix.bat to run the tool.

Allow it as long as it takes to run, then Reboot to Normal Windows and look for a log at C:\hslog.txt . Please attach that log when you come back later after doing the steps below.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your HJT log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
    - Also post you HSfix log file as an attachment.
