I'm looking for a FAST cloning program to run from a bootable flash drive. Right now I'm experimenting with OSFclone. It works fine, but it's designed for forensic copying so I think that's why it's kind of slow. I'm going to try to create a bootable flash drive using Easeus Disk Copy and see how that goes. I'll be performing a data transfer on-site at a client's location tomorrow morning and I don't want to be there all freekin day waiting for a drive to copy.

    THX!

(even though the Easeus site doesn't mention it, when you run the downloaded EXE, it appears to have a USB option, so I'll give that a go - I haven't had the best luck with bootable USB drives in the past, so I'm a bit wary of the whole process)

As I suspected, the USB option in Easeus Drive Copy doesn't seem to work. It goes thru the paces, but ends up with nothing on the flash drive. I tried another method using ImageUSB and the ISO from Easeus, and the files appeared, but it doesn't boot.....

http://redobackup.org/, meets your qualifications - 1) runs from USB & 2) free. I have used it and so far so good.

@ tgell: I ran into Clonezilla whilst researching this project, and something about it just left a sour taste in my mouth. I'm sure it's a great and effective program, but the screen shots show me that it's WAY TOO HEAVY on the Linux command line interface. Again, I have nothing against Linux, but I prefer a GUI, even if it's based in Linux.

@ foogoo: I'll check it out! Thanks!

I came across DriveClone7 from Farstone Software in my pile of CDs. It's an older program and appears to have been discontinued, and I didn't even know I had it :-o rolleyes But I messed with it and created a bootable USB flash drive by creating an ISO image of the CD, and it worked, and it copied really fast!!! But it isn't free, and it's old discontinued unsupported software, so I'll keep looking....

(BTW - the drive cloning job is done, client is happy)
