HDCleaner question

I just downloaded and installed HD Cleaner from here at MG's, and a message pops up when I try to run the program that says "expired version-check for update". What gives?

 

Not sure about that one is it on the "Top Freeware List";

If not use CCleaner (which most here use) and I would definatley recommend Lexun RegScrubXP both on same page and should do the job you need.

 

Maybe the download got corrupted, try downloading it again. I downloaded the new version from MGs a few days ago, it's working fine for me.

I downloaded from 2 different locations and it happens with either one; it installs but the program won't open because "version expired--check update" pops up.

Thanks for the info. I used to have HDCleaner installed awhile back & then uninstalled it. Now it won't open upon reinstallation . I wanted to use it again because from what I remember it had a nice way of showing how your disk space was being used.

 

I use CCleaner for regular cleaning, but HD Cleaner has its uses. Uninstall it again, check in C:\Program Files - if the HD Cleaner folder is still there, delete it. Then use a good registry cleaner to get rid of any leftovers there. Maybe then...?

 

I too have had problems with HDcleaner mine has been installed and I went to use it (version HDCleaner 2.362) and it said that it expired and an update was needed. This happens every time whoever makes HDCleaner does something with it. I uninstalled ran my cleaners and reinstalled 2.362 from MG downloads still says expired version so I went to the author's site and downloaded the HDCleaner 3.082 -BETA Version what a crock it is NOT in English and I can't figure out how to change it to English once it got downloaded.

I use CCleaner as well as Lexon RegScrub XP and I have found that the HDcleaner does find things in the Registry and basic file cleaning that neither one of those find. I can run the Registry cleaner in both CCleaner and RegScrub then I would immediately run HDcleaner reg cleaner option and it would find even more things and the same with the basic file cleaning run it in CCleaner and then run HDCleaner and it would find more files that needed to be removed that CCleaner did not find. So, not totally sure whats up with that..

Any suggestions??? Maybe I don't have my cleaners set up right to do an efficient job..

A little over kill with all disk cleaners. I suggest staying with one. (ccleaner)
Lexun sometimes causes problems unless you're an expert.

 

I tried downloading HD Cleaner from MajorGeeks, and got the wrong version! I downloaded from the first MajorGeeks TX link, I got 3.082-BETA - I found out when I started to install. It also tells you that the English translation is not yet available - everything else is in German.

Previously I'd gone to the author's homepage and clicked the link to the English version of the page (you click the U.S.flag in the lower left), the only version listed there is 2.362 - the same as MajorGeeks lists. I downloaded and installed from there, it worked fine. Then I tried from here to see if I could duplicate shewolf's problem, but got a surprise instead. Somebody goofed, it seems.

 

Well the HD cleaner problem is fixed I just downloaded the latest English version from the Author's web site and it took me directly to the download for 2.362 and I mainly use the HD cleaner for my registry because it finds things that other registry cleaners don't find.
