HDD filling up w/o input

Over time the HDD spins for no apparent reason, and the space becomes more filled. I did a reinstall but it seems to still be going on. Is there much chance of the recovery partition (Thinkpad T61) has been infected? It was purchased used, so idk it's entire history. Hope the logs were attached, but I failed to transfer MB logs as it indicates the exe file is posted. From the text, it came up all zeros. A secondary problem has been dbl clicking of the mouse when I single click, but that could be due to a ten yr old marble mouse. Said problem is intermittent.

Any help is much appreciated, and let me know how to give a thanks. It's been 7yr or more when arbri<sp?> help on an older system and she did me justice to remove a U3 file that was spinning the HDD. Much prefer the SSDs, and hope to go that direction in the near future.

Sorry but you will have to look elsewhere. Your problems are not due to malware. Your logs are clean.

If you did not install that Juicy Stakes 2.0 program, you should uninstall it.

Wish my response was as snappy as your signature, but I am 0001 of those people;)

Confirmed today the track ball is just worn out from a decade of use, hence the unexpected double clicks.

Any idea what would be storing files, back up, utube?

    Thanks for taking a look.

    You're welcome.
Some program you are running, or possibly you are just seeing the affects of System Restore creating restore points when various updates occur or when you reboot.

Have noticed the clock seems to loose three hours on Saturday night, may just wipe again as less info will be lost by going ahead and biting the bullet.

How would I better control RECOVER setting? Have browsed functions but have yet to see anything obvious. Even a recommended tutorial would be appreciated, as it may take a long time to find what I am looking for.

These are things you can discuss in the Software Forum. If you reduce system restore disk space then you cut down on disk usage but you also lose the ability to have a backup that may save you from trouble at some point. See the below for some info:

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Ok Chaslang, I'm a dummy sometimes :-o, you were right as the clock was set to synchronized setting w/ servers I do not trust. NIST was the big standout, and organization of deceivers.

PS why such heavy censorship in the lounge forum when the LAWS OF PHYSICS are shown to be a fact. Started a topic in general discussion, only to have it locked by admin(been a yr o/s). I can prove what I say to be a fact, yet it's taboo due to those who can't accept it. PM me, as this has strayed way too far off topic, and I don't intend to use the tread as a primary posting point.
