My Insiprion 6000 that I just had to reformat (D-band) everything because of a remote access issue now will not accept my HDD password? It was working fine and accepting the password until now? I have Bart PE. I have Winternals ERD. I am not familiar with these however, am hopeful somehow I can recover or reset my password so that I can actually use my laptop again. I have full access to my Bios. Any advice would be so appreciated! Dell wants to charge me an additional $100 but, won't gaurantee that my issue will be resolved! WTF? Oh, but I will have 30 days of tech support even though I spent $1100 buying the laptop from Dell in the first place!

    Thank you in advance!!

    Hi,

If you just formatted the entire HD then the only password possible is the BIOS setup password. Reset the BIOS using the jumper. If you can't find the jumper remove the BIOS battery for about 2 hrs. It should reset the password and let you in.

    Good Luck, Jim
