Hdd Won't Work On My Computer

    When I double click on the HDD I get an hour glass icon and nothing happens even on HDDs that I know are good. I have to use task manager in order to stop it. It seems to be on HDDs that are connected via USB.

    CrossFire Disabled

    I forgot also Windows Version - Windows 7 (Service Pack 1) (64 bit).

    Are you plugging the USB drive into a USB 3.0/3.1 port or a USB 2.0 port? Try a USB 2.0 port or if all you have is USB 2.0, try a different port. Also try a different USB cable.

    A lot can depend on the case/caddy/enclosure you are using.
    I had this sort of trouble with 2.5" external enclosures, when the connection inside the enclosure was faulty.

    I had a hard drive to USB adapter (powered unit) that didn't seem to work well. I bought another newer unit and haven't had a problem.
    Perhaps, for whatever reason, the old unit just didn't like something about Windows 7. (It was bought when I was running earlier versions of Windows).

    Problem solved. It seems it was one of the adapters, so I turned it off. I took that HDD and put it on a double deck adapter that I have and everything seems to be working fine. Maybe it has something to do with windows or a driver. Thanks.
